Scope and Contents

Folder contains congratulatory materials given to Biggs for her work at CSUSM. Materials include emails, thank you notes, and official letters from individuals such as President Karen Haynes, Tishmall Turner, Kit Herlihy, and Gerardo Gonzalez congratulating and thanking her for her work as Tribal Liaison; for organizing meetings; for aiding on personal and campus projects; and for her committment to establishing and supporting advisory cousils and boards, and for her overall role in the success of CSUSM. Folder also contains personal thank you notes from friends and family to Biggs and her husband, Gunnar. Folder contains other materials relating to Biggs' role as Tribal Liaison, including but not limited to an email from Biggs to Tribal Community educators/leaders and campus educators/leaders inviting them to the second annual North Couty Higher Education Alliance event at CSUSM (2006); “The California State University San Marcos American Indian Student Alliance cordially invites you to join is in a book release celebration: Indian Rock Native Garden Project" flyer (November 20, 2006); the “California State University San Marcos Tribal Communities Initiative” memo; and various photographs of a CSUSM tribal event housed in a Kinkos envelope (no identifiable information included on envelope). Folder also includes the “California State University: Office of the Chancellor—Open Letter to the CSU San Marcos Community” (May 2007), which discusses CSUSM and Haynes’ accomplishments and goals for next year; as well as “The UC/CSU American Indian Higher Education Consortium: A Draft Report and Recommendations," which was submitted by Ricardo Torres and Michelle Villegas Frazier (April 2007).

Conditions Governing Access

The collection is open for research. Some materials have been restricted because of FERPA or concerns with Personally Identifiable Information. Select items/Contents have been reformatted and have digital access copies. Access to original [audio tapes, video recordings, etc.] is restricted; researchers may request viewing copies. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
