Scope and Contents

Folder contains historical-related items, such as items relating to the history of Indigenous names, an article about the Indian Tas Status Act, and an article describing how to create a lesson plan about the accurate history of Thanksgiving. Folder also contains legislative paperwork, such as a copy of West’s California Legislative Service declaring American Indian Day Proclamation (1984); materials from the American Indian Library Assocation, such as resource materials, bibliograpies, and film recommendations; and materials related to racism and representation of Native Americans in media.

Conditions Governing Access

The collection is open for research. Some materials have been restricted because of FERPA or concerns with Personally Identifiable Information. Select items/Contents have been reformatted and have digital access copies. Access to original [audio tapes, video recordings, etc.] is restricted; researchers may request viewing copies. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
