Scope and Contents

Folder contains copies of "American Indian Libraries Newsletter" from 1992 to 2005. Newsletters discuss topics related to tribal librarianship throughout North America. Common columns in the newsletters include, "President's Column;" "Reviews," which included book reviews for titles on Indigenous history and the library science field; "FYI," which called to attention awards and grants to which students and professions could apply; and “American Indian Library Association/OLOS Subcommittee on Library Services to American Indians,” which were ALA conference meeting notes. The newsletters also discuss other topics, such as membership, forums and events, listservs, technology, job listings, and online resources. Bonnie Biggs and Dr. Lotsee Patterson are featured throughout the newsletters.

Conditions Governing Access

The collection is open for research. Some materials have been restricted because of FERPA or concerns with Personally Identifiable Information. Select items/Contents have been reformatted and have digital access copies. Access to original [audio tapes, video recordings, etc.] is restricted; researchers may request viewing copies. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
