Scope and Contents

In her 2021 interview, Boyd describes the process by which she and her fellow Associated Students Incorporated cohorts at California State University San Marcos proposed the idea of the Black Student Center. She also discusses the politics that were involved in the advocating for and implementing the Center, and who were major contributors to helping bring the CSUSM Black Student Center to life.

Biographical / Historical

Tiffaney Boyd is an alumna of California State University San Marcos, where she was a communication and social sciences major. Boyd served in Associated Students Incorporated (ASI, student government) during her time at CSUSM, first as a representative for the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavorial and Social Sciences, then as vice-president of operations, and finally as ASI president, where she set in motion the creation of the Cougar Pantry and Sigma Gamma Rho, as well as the Black Student Center. Boyd is currently a legislative director in the California State Assembly, where she manages the legislative package for Assemblymember Akilah Weber M.D.
