Scope and Contents
This collection includes CSUSM telephone directories, directories, directory updates, and marginalia for California State University San Marcos. Additionally, collection contains supplemental college and departmental directories for select years. Directories will often include some combination of the following: Alphabetical employee listings (including title, address, telephone and in some years email addresses); building lists; California State University system telephone numbers and addresses; campus fax numbers; campus maps; departmental listings (including departmental emails in some years); emergency information; emeriti listings; holiday and pay schedules; and information on using the directories and similar "help" information.

Conditions Governing Access
The collection is open for research. Alphabetical listings of select directories have been reformatted and have digital access copies. Researchers may request viewing copies of these directories. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest. Please note that Special Collections and University Archives observes all campus holiday closures as noted in the Library Calendar. For more information, please send an email to archives@csusm.edu.

Biographical / Historical
Early directories were often simple listings with internal and external telephone numbers, photocopied and passed out to employees. As the university grew, directories grew in complexity. The university ceased physical publication of directories in 2016.

Directories have been compiled by library employees over the years.
Existence and Location of Copies
Digital surrogates for some directories and supplements have been created and are available for researcher use upon request. Some directories only have had their alphabetical listings scanned. Years digitized encompass 1989-2000 for CSUSM directories. College of Arts & Sciences years 1993, 1996-2001, 2012 have also been digitized, and digital directories for Enrollment Services, Fall 1996 and an undated Telephone directory for IITS are also held within the collection.
