Fact finding study of social and economic conditions of Indians of San Diego County, California, and reports from specialists in allied fields

 Collection
Identifier: SC070

Content Description

This report was commissioned by the San Diego Board of Supervisors in 1932 under the pretense of studying the economic and social conditions of Indigenous tribes and families around San Diego. In reality, this report was designed to test the feasability and cost of dissolving the reservation system and placing each Indigenous family onto an allotment of land. The report uses three reservations, Los Coyotes, La Jolla, and Santa Ysabel as a case study from which they draw conclusions about the economic and social states of the other 13 reservations in the San Diego County area and how much it would cost to provide the same resources to families on allotments.
