"Mrs. John Edmondson Jr. displays the trophy recently received by the Junior Woman's Club in recognition of the many hours they contributed in the neighbor to neighbor cancer drive. Mrs. Edmondson is cancer chairman for the local Junior Woman's Club. The trophy will be on display for one month at Escondido National Bank." "A fire hydrant was snapped off its base on North Broadway between El Norte Parkway and Escondido High School Tuesday morning about 8 a.m. when a cement truck driven by Albert L. Stevens of 701 Nancy St. rolled over it when readying to pour cement nearby. Standing to watch the spectacular are Wayne Verkelman and Aubrey Vanderbyl, summer vacationers." "Utility comes to rescue", 1970-08-21
"Reg Smith, district manager for San Diego Gas and Electric Co., and Sally Villasante, director of Escondido ACCESS office, look over brochure of Disneyland which will come in handy Sunday when ACCESS officials take 300 underprivileged children to the park. The company donated $400 for the children to make the trip."
