For Mexican nationals - use Mexicans, geographically subdivided if possible. For Mexican immigrants, use "Undocumented immigrants" instead of the offensive Library of Congress term. For works describing Chicano heritage, use "Chicano heritage". For civil rights related to the Chicano movement, use "Chicano movement."

El Barrio was a community newspaper covering issues of importance to San Diego's Chicano community. It was printed on the verso side of the underground tabloid newspaper Street Journal/San Diego Free Press. The library's run may contain gaps. The Street Journal and El Barrio were printed on a semiregular, weekly basis. El Barrio byline: "The Official Organ of the Brown Berets: Published weekly by the San Diego Free Press."
