"'Oh yeah?' 'Yeah!' The above confrontation on East Valley Parkway between Bob Burrows' burro and patrolman Ed Ryan failed to prove anything, as the beast was automatically found guilty of horseplay. Ryan relented and tore up the ticket in the true spirit of Kit Carson Days. It was all in fun, and part of holiday atmosphere."

"This floor-length princess-style white embroidered Irish linen dress tells of Constitution Week, Sept. 17-24, and reminds owner Mrs. Holmes E. Manchester of her mother, who wore it while dancing to a Strauss Waltz. The display, arranged by Mrs. Alan Hudson, regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Rincon Del Diablo chapter, is appearing in the window of the Walker Scott department store in the Escondido Village Mall.
