Biographical / Historical

PINAYtration was a zine created and edited by Michelle Magalong. It was also a registered student organization at University of California San Diego (UCSD). The zine was largely concerned with Filipina American identity (also often referred to as Pinay, Pilipina by contributors). Contributors were Filipina women from San Diego, the San Francisco Bay area, and beyond. Topics of the zine included social identities, politics, feminism, and similar issues important to its contributors and readers. Contributors wrote poetry, artwork, photography, and short-form writing such as essays, fiction, and political announcements.

PINAYtration ran for seven issues in total.
